Inside an LCD Glass
LED glass incorporates a variable number of surface-mount LEDs (SMD) between two layers of glass, applied on a transparent, metallized plastic support that serves as the electrical conduit. The assembly is then compacted with transparent adhesives, resulting in a laminated glass with a minimum thickness of 9.3 millimeters. The LEDs are powered by simple direct current devices that vary in value depending on the quantity and arrangement (9/48V=).
For LED glass, the “light-emitting glass,” various types of glass can be used successfully in terms of both thickness and surface finish. Tempered, laminated, mirror, colored in bulk, enamelled, acid-etched, and many other types of glass are all suitable for this type of processing.
LED glass thus adapts to a wide range of uses where light and transparency come together to enhance a space. It is used in shelves and displays for stores, walkable stairs and landings, balustrades, and decorative luminous panels.
It is also used in skylights and industrial applications requiring integrated lighting. In the marine sector and boat outfitting, LED glass is particularly sought after for providing "sneeze guards" for sneeze protection panels.
